Petition of Michael Gill - Petitioner came to this colony by the ship Archduke Charles, having been tried at Galway in March 1811 and sentenced to Exile for life. Assigned to John Blaxland as his government servant in which servitude conduct has been such as to merit the application of his employer. Petitioner being anxious to do something for his future benefit in the Colony humbly solicits Your Excellency to take the length of tme he has been under the sentence of the law into your favourable consideration and extend him such mitigation of the heavy sentence he yet labour under....John Blaxland recommended him as an industrious and steady man and he was recommended for a ticket of leave
